Take action
If you think Boulder residents should have a say in what goes on a Boulder Municipal Airport, here are some things you can do to help achieve that.
Our activism numbers matter, as resident voices are greatly outweighed by vested interests in this issue. The GA industry has money, organization, and the backing of an arm of the Federal government - the FAA. Residents just have themselves and each other. The power imbalance is extreme.
And yet, the situation has become so untenable that local leadership is starting to listen.

Local airport controlThe only way to get local leadership the ability to control airport usage is to stop taking FAA grant money.
|
Tell City Council to stop selling leaded fuelDue to the well understood toxic risk, other airports have stopped selling leaded fuel. BDU can do this too.
|
Tell City Council to institute landing feesCurrently use of BDU runways is free. Instituting landing fees is something that could be done now. Landing fees would allow airports users to contribute a more fair share to offset their impact.

Write to your representatives
In addition to local control and reasonable limits we need:
- honest economic data,
- an honest land use study that considers non aviation uses of some or all of BDU land.
