Petition for Master Plan development working group
The City of Boulder plans to convene a Community Working Group (CWG) to provide input about Boulder Municipal Airport (BDU) this spring of 2023, in advace of starting the Master Plan (MP) development process this summer.
It seems the City intends for the CWG to exist only in advance of the MP development. This leaves no oversight for actual development of the MP. This, in turn, sets up another biased situation in which vested interests alone steer the effort for BDU expansion and growth.
Our community deserves representation on the development of the Master Plan.
An important consideration is whether the City should accept binding FAA funding for developing the MP. It's possible that accepting funding for MP development sets the clock back another 20 years. Because of binding and lengthy obligations that ensue from taking FAA money, City leaders should not authorize the taking of any FAA money for MP development, or any other airport benefit, without prior approval from citizens.
